    Root Canal Treatment in Largs

Root canal treatment (endodontics) is used to save a tooth when the nerve inside has become infected or inflamed. Modern techniques mean it's much more comfortable than its reputation suggests — and it lets you keep your natural tooth.

    Why patients choose this treatment

    • Relieves toothache and removes infection
    • Saves your natural tooth — usually preferable to extraction
    • Carried out under local anaesthetic — most patients feel little or no pain
    • Treated tooth can last many years with a good restoration on top

    Frequently asked questions

    Does a root canal hurt?

Not usually — it's done under local anaesthetic so the tooth is completely numb. Most patients say it feels much like having a filling.

    How long does it take?

It varies from tooth to tooth. Simpler cases may be completed in one or two visits, while more complex teeth (especially molars) can need additional appointments. We'll give you a clearer idea once we've assessed the tooth.

Will I need a crown afterwards?

Back teeth almost always need a crown after root canal treatment to protect them from cracking. We'll discuss this at your consultation.
